Flor Del Laja
Ignacio is the general manager of Agrícola y Ganadera Avellanos Flor del Laja, located in Yumbel, Biobío Region. In 2017, they embarked on a new project to prove that the family livestock and forestry farm had potential as a hazelnut orchard. They currently have 32 ha of Yamhill variety hazelnuts with double drip lines and a precipitation rate of 2 lt/h. They have irrigation and fertigation monitoring and control, as well as climate and soil moisture monitoring.

I was a slave to the irrigation shed, but the implementation of DropControl made my life easier, especially in an orchard where I am the one in charge of carrying out the irrigation and fertilization.
We were flying blind during the first two years without data. Now that we have information, we realized that irrigation times had to be adjusted and the change is noticeable. Just through water management, the new orchard had better development.
I can sleep soundly; the difference in development between the first and second orchard is double the growth, and solely due to water management.
