Agrícola Santo Domingo
Agrícola Santo Domingo has two production units in the Los Ríos Region, totaling 1,335 acres of European hazelnuts. The first production unit currently has nine irrigation blocks, and this year they will add three more blocks in the second unit. Each irrigation block is equipped with irrigation and fertigation control, wireless valve control, climate monitoring, and soil moisture monitoring. In addition, they automate two pumps that feed two accumulators in the field.

DropControl has allowed us to manage all 1,285 acres under a single system and platform, simplifying the operation.
DROPCONTROL ALLOWED US TO SIMPLIFY THE OPERATION

Cost of valves with cable USD 112 / acre
Cost of wireless valves USD 83 / acre
In addition to wireless valves being 26% cheaper per acre than cable valves, a wireless solution also offers the following added benefits:
- Lower implementation cost due to field topography and layout
- Cable is subject to problems, cuts, theft, etc.
- With wireless valves, differentiated irrigation can be carried out at the level of each irrigation block, rather than at the level of the entire irrigation sector.
- The same X1 node that manages valve control can also be used to implement soil moisture probes.
