MANTOS VERDES AGRÍCOLA
Located in the Los Ríos region, the Mantos Verdes farm spans 610 acres of pastures. Of this total, 252 acres are managed with a basin irrigation system, which uses WiseConn's DropControl technology for climate and soil monitoring.

Climate and soil monitoring

By tracking soil moisture, we are able to refine our irrigation strategy. This is crucial during periods like February, when high crop water demand coincides with regional energy overconsumption during the summer. This issue can prevent us from irrigating normally, which would otherwise lead to the risk of permanent wilting in our crops.

The Mantos Verdes farm began its first irrigation season in November 2020 by installing a soil moisture sensor. This was a crucial step because their location faces a unique challenge: every February, the summer season brings an influx of people that causes regional energy overconsumption, which can disrupt the irrigation schedule.
A study conducted over six seasons revealed a 30% increase in dry matter production on irrigated pastures compared to dryland. This increase resulted in an additional gain of $1,353 USD per acre per year.
