BETA OLMOS AGRÍCOLA
Beta Olmos Agrícola, located in northern Peru, has 1,070 acres of Ventura blueberry cultivation and 919 acres of Hass avocado cultivation. Both crops were planted in 2016 on sandy and clay soils. They use DropControl telemetry, Sentek moisture sensors, a weather station, and irrigation management services from Consultora Diestre Perú.

Maintaining a correct relationship between soil moisture content and plant transpiration needs is of utmost importance to avoid water deficits or excesses that could alter plant growth or development.

After implementing optimal irrigation management, three years of productivity versus water consumption were compared for both avocados and blueberries, yielding the following results:
· Sustained increase in productivity in both crops year after year.
· For avocados, approximately a 30% reduction in water consumption was achieved.
· For blueberries, while an increase in water consumption is observed over time, this leads to an improvement in the ratio of kilograms of fruit produced per cubic meter of water consumed by the crop (Kg/m³).
By applying a correct strategy in irrigation management, both in terms of timing and frequency, according to the plants' developmental stages and edaphoclimatic conditions, an increase in crop yields and a decrease in water consumption can be achieved, as is the case for Agrícola Beta Olmos.
